The department of Fashion and Textile Technology conducted a guest lecture on “Research Planning” on 23rd July 2016 by Ms. Amita D.Pandya, Professor, M.S.University, Baroda.

The resource person introduced the students the importance and need for research project in today’s day and age. She gave an insight on the whole research planning process and identifying its main feature:

  • Discovering the relevant "facts" of an event, issue, procedure, or problem.
  • Reviewing and evaluating contrasting explanations for the topic being researched
  • Reviewing the consensus (or lack of it) of the research findings among researchers
  • Disseminating the findings and conclusions for critical review.

The purpose of the lecture was to make students understand: Problem Statement or Problem Identification: What exactly is being researched and why; what is the relevance or importance of the same; what questions will be addressed, and an overview of what conclusions will be drawn.

An interactive session marked the summation of the lecture where the speaker interacted with the students of MA/ MSc/ MCom Fashion Technology Ist and IIIrd semester and discussed their research project ideas and gave her valuable ideas and comments on the same.
