The department of Fashion and Textile Technology conducted a guest lecture on “Research Planning” on 23rd July 2016 by Ms. Amita D.Pandya, Professor, M.S.University, and Baroda.

“Coming together is a beginning; keeping together is progress; working together is a success.” Henry Ford.

Ms. Pandya talked about the importance of working on research projects and introduced the whole planning process. She explained that the first step in the strategic planning process is to address the questions “Where are we?” and “What do we have to work with?” To answer the question of what we have to work with involves consideration of strengths and weaknesses of how to capitalize on strengths. All research focuses on "Solving Problems, answering the defined research question. Research addresses the perceived "problem" of missing or inadequate information on a particular topic.

She discussed on discovering the origins and development of problems and the factors that might lessen or prevent problems, by pilot testing, and then replicating (further testing), demonstrating, evaluating, and disseminating programs of prevention or remediation.

The resource person ended the session the discussion by stating few textile Agencies that can be approached for financial assistance for upcoming research projects that will be undertaken by the department.
