Objective: 

1. To enable the students to design and create dyed & printed material

2. To make students understand an in depth study of the role of designer in tune with industry   as well as market requirement

 

Unit I: 
Course Content:
  • Printing :                                                                                                                          10 hrs                            
    • Preparation of grey fabric for printing – Scouring, Desizing, bleaching, mercerization &   Degumming of silk.
    • Printing styles- positive –negative – spraying – sponging- brushing
    • Stencil printing-preparation of stencils-printing process
    • Understanding various styles of printing: direct style, resist style & discharge           
    • Technique and Ingredients used in printing
  • Screen Printing –Preparation of design and screen- table screen printing                        10 hrs
  • Block Printing- preparation of blocks- preparation of color pads- printing process         06 hrs
  • Tie and dye techniques – method of tying dying method                                                 08 hrs
  • Batik – types of waxes – waxing-dyeing – de-waxing                                                      08 hrs
  • Colour fixation and treatments – steaming – curing-thermal fixing.
  • Students are expected to prepare creative samples on various fabrics that can be used later to create garments out of it.
  • Print Layouts for Saree, Kurta , stole & Scarf                                                                   10 hrs
  • Development of ( any one) bags, pouches, yokes/ borders for desired products              08 hrs
