Objective: 
  • To impart the knowledge to develop designs skills for creating aesthetically good designs
  • To use and apply the elements of design like Lines, Shapes, Texture & color to form a good design

 

Unit I: 
COURSE CONTENT
  • Application of elements of design on apparel                                                                                                                                                     15 hrs
    • Line – Horizontal, vertical, diagonal, and curve lines etc.
    • Shape & silhouette – A-line, Sheath, Mermaid, Empire, Ball Gown
    • Color - color wheel, Value scale, intensity scale and color schemes, Rendering according to print -   checks, stripes, floral, Abstract.
    • Texture - woven, tweeds, satin, denim, crepe,  tissues, chiffon, pile and leather

                                                                                                                                                           

  • Motifs & Repeats- geometric, simplified, naturalized, stylized and abstract.                                                                      10 hrs
  • Application of Principles of design - Balance, Proportion, Rhythm, Emphasis and Harmony                                               15 hrs
  • Sketching garment details with the help of template for: Neckline, Collars, Sleeves, Tucks, Pleats, Gathers, Yokes, Pocket, cuffs                                                                                                                     15 hrs
  • Introduction to block figure.                                                                                                                                                                   06 hrs
  • Drawing stylized figure                                                                                                                                                                         14 hrs
  • Designing and rendering of apparel                                                                                                                                                        15 hrs
