Objective of the activity: To review the ideas of students for the fashion show and brief about the design process and line development.

Description:

The Department of Fashion & Textiles organized fashion show jury on 16th September, 2023, in Draping Lab, which proved to be an enlightening and engaging event for the students. The session featured two Jury members, Ms. Vijaya Solanki, the founder of Label "Vijaya Solanki" with a background in B.Sc. Fashion Design from INIFD, Jaipur. She specializes in creating Ethnic Women's Wear and has lent her creative touch to celebrities' wardrobes and Ms. Shruti Mishra, the co-founder and creative director of label “Shruti Mishra Designs”, Jaipur. Jury members shared their expertise and insights on the development of product line for the fashion show. 

It was an interactive session between the jury members and the fashion show participants, where the students introduced their ideas, concepts for their line for the fashion show to the jury.  Students presented their inspiration, story, colour palette and silhouettes for the same.

Jury motivated the students and gave positive feedback to help them refine their design and accessories. While evaluating the inspirational ideas of student’s, jury members considered the recent trends in fashion, aesthetics, presentation, design and other qualities are also considered. The development of the fashion line is a process that begins long before clothing is constructed and placed on a model. Product line development involves a significant amount of planning on the part of the designer as well as the other fashion professionals involved in the process.

Outcome of the activity: From this jury meeting, which was incredibly inspiring, where the valuable guidance not only enriched the participants in understanding fashion but also motivated them to reach new creative heights. The participants gained insights into trend forecasting and the process of presenting a garment line or conducting market surveys for selecting fabrics and trims to create a range of garments for upcoming fashion shows.
