APPLIED TEXTILE DESIGN
- To impart understanding of different media of application-printing (stencil, block) and special finishes.
- To equip the students with technical skills of designing competency for different media of application.
- To develop a professional approach towards the thematic designing for textiles.

- Definition and scope of design in textiles
- Components of design
(i) Structural - variations in fiber, yarn and fabric development and finishes
(ii) Applied - finishes, dyeing, printing and embroidery
2. Design Interpretation (Preparation of design sheets) 15 hrs
- Elements of design - shape, line & form, texture, colour and colour systems
- Principles of design - balance, harmony, proportion, emphasis and rhythm
3. Rendering: various textures 10 hrs
- Fabric simulation - sheer, medium weight, heavy, pile etc.
4. Colour mixing and colour ways 10 hrs
5. Enlargement & reduction of motifs 10 hrs
6. Design & development of blocks, screen & stencil 10 hrs
7. Thematic approach to design: Preparation of theme chart/ mood 20 hrs
