Answer:There is no entrance exam for seeking admission in Fashion Design course in the Department of Fashion & Textiles at IIS (deemed to be University).

Senior School Examination Certificate ( Class 12) from any recognised or accredited Board of Education in India or Abroad, 48% in the aggregate, or any grade equivalent to the same.

B.A./B.Com/B.Sc Garment Production & Export Management

M.A/M.Sc/M.Com Fashion Design

Bachelor’s Degree (any stream), 50% in the aggregate of the qualifying exam.

Ph.D

55% or equivalent CCWA or CGPA in the Postgraduate examination in the Ph.D. Bylaws of the University, subject to a relaxation of 5% for SC/ST/OBC (non-cream layer) and PwD candidates.

COSD Fashion Designing (Certificate, Diploma & Advance Diploma)

Answer:Yes, you can apply even if you have not studied fashion design during the course you will be given hands- on training on both theoretically and practically aspart.

Question8:What are the facilities and resources available for students ?
Answer:The Department of Fashion & Textiles offers a range of facilities and resources to support students learning and professional development.These facilities include specialized laboratories such as Pattern Making, Draping, Weaving, Dyeing, Printing, Textile Testing and Design Studio. The department also provides Computer Laboratory with updated software, equipping students with latest technology. Additionally, there is a resource center for hands-on experience for fabrics and other resources. The University has a well-stocked library with an up-to-date collection of reference books, textbooks, and subscribes to various periodicals and journals

Answer:The key topics covered in the fashion design curriculum are as follows:Pattern Making, Garment Construction, Draping, Fashion Illustration, Computer Aided Design, Fashion Media and Communication, Fashion Styling, Dyeing, Printing, Textile Testing, Fabric Development, Apparel Merchandising, Research, etc.
Question10:How is student progress assessed throughout the course in both UG/PG programme?

Answer:The Evaluation for Continuous Assessment (CA) is internal whereas for the Semester End Examination (SEE) evaluation is done by involving External Examiners. The evaluation pattern is uniformly applicable to all Undergraduate and Postgraduate students.

Question11:Are there any internship opportunities provided during the course?
Answer:U.G.:  In B.Sc. Fashion Design programme for the academic session of 2024-2025 students are required to complete a six-month internship in their sixth semester. This internship serves as a practical experience where students can effectively apply their theoretical knowledge for professional development.

P.G.: The Fashion Design programme at the M.A./M.Sc./M.Com level includes a compulsory six-week internship after second semester. This hands-on opportunity enables students to connect academic learning with real-world practice in the fashion sector.

Question12:Can I pursue other courses or activities along with fashion design programme?

Answer:Yes, the Fashion & Textiles Department offers many extracurricular activities to enhance student learning. Question17:What is the average salary for the students after completion of the degree programme?
Answer:As a fresher, the average salary package for students after completion of the degree programme is between 3 to 4 lakhs per annum.
Question18:Can international students apply for the fashion design course?
Answer:Yes, International students can apply for the fashion design course.
Question19:Do you have a hostel facility ?
Answer:There are three centrally air-conditioned hostels-'Aanchal' (Gurukul Marg campus), 'Vasundhara' (Mahaveer Marg campus), and the third IIS Kshipra Path, providing healthy and hygienic vegetarian food and a disciplined, yet homely environment in the hostels. Admission to the hostels is merit-cum- need-based and subject to the availability of seats.

Aanchal Hostel: It is constructed to accommodate 174 students and has a Mess to offer a nutritious and delicious menu to the boarders and staff on subsidized rates in a pleasant and hygienic environment.

Vasundhara Hostel: It offers a well- ventilated and neat accommodation and a Mess facility for as many as 110 students on the Mahaveer Marg Campus.

IIS Hostel: The IIS Hostel at the Kshipra Path campus has an intake capacity   of 30 seats.

Question20:What is the Fee structure for both UG/PG Programmes?
Answer:The fee structure for the Undergraduate programme is between 92,500-1,01,000/- per year, inclusive of Career Oriented Skill Development (COSD) courses. COSD course is compulsory for the students of Ist year. The fees for the Postgraduate programme is 88,500/- per year.
