Objective: 

This course will enable the students to understand and develop aesthetic sense about manual and digital designing in textiles and in-depth knowledge of colour and design in tune with industry as well as market requirements.

CO7: Create design sheets for colour, colour schmes, motifs, repeats and layouts with suitable colour media via manual/digital.

CO8: Analyze the fundamentals of digital illustration for designing dress material and home furnishings.

CO9:Compile comprehensive practical records having design sheets using different colour media and design development for home furnishings, dress material and accessories.

CO10:Develop verbal communication skills to converse effectively with examiners.

CO11: Contribute effectively in course- specific interaction.

Approach in teaching: Demonstration, Interactive workshops, PowerPoint presentations, Relevant videos

Learning activities for the students: Self-learning assignments, and development of Design sheets and sample

Assign the task, Class test, Course end examinations

 

 

Course Content:                                                   

  1. Colour & Colour Schemes (Manual & CAD software):                                                                                                                                  (20 Hours)
  • Prepare-Value Scale, Intensity Scale, Hue
  • Introduction to colour, colour wheel and colour scheme
  1. Creating design sheets for portfolio (Manual and CAD software) using the following in combination with suitable colour media:                                                                                                        (30 Hours)         
    • Motifs: Geometrical, Stylized, Figurative, Abstract, Traditional
  • Repeats: Plain, Vertical, Horizontal, Diagonal, Half drop/ drop repeat, Mirror image, Jaal, All over
  • Layouts:  Border, Corner, Centre, Free flowing, Stripes and Checks 
  1. Design Development through CAD software:                                                                                                                                         (25 Hours)

Develop design sheets each for the following categories according to the Market Research and forecasting of the latest trend. The Design process includes storyboard (mood board, colour board & swatch board,) according to the selected theme according to the target market:      

  • Home Furnishing
  • Dress Material
  • Floor covering  
  • Accessories
