Objective: 

To enable the students to obtain perfect fit and harmony between the fabric & design of the garment.

 

Unit I: 
Course Content:

Fabric characteristics and terms                                                                         5 Hrs

Model form: Preparation, measurements and tools

Draping principles and techniques

 

Basic Dress form                                                                                                   10 Hrs

Preparation of fabric for draping, seam allowances, marking and tracing, making basic front and back, bodice block by draping on dress form.

Asymmetrical darts

Bodice styles: Classic princess drape, armhole princess line, panel bodice, halter style line, off shoulder, cowl, wrap front bodice.

                                         

Sleeve block adaptation- puff, flared, bell, dolman, raglan                                 10 Hrs

 

Draping for Collars-Peter Pan, Shawl, Band                                                     10 Hrs

 

Skirt & its adaptation: 15 Hrs

i. A-Line

     iv. Stylized yoke with flare, gathers & pleats

 

Constructing new styles in following garment by draping methods-           10 Hrs
