This course will enable the students to introduce the preparatory process of fabric for dyeing and provide the knowledge of dyeing for different textile materials.

CO17: Explain the preparatory process of fabric for dyeing and processing inputs for quality dyeing.

CO18: Analyze the application process of dyeing, prepare shade card and fabric dyed samples.

CO19: Compile comprehensive practical records having details of preparatory process/application of dyeing on various textiles/ process of tie and dyeing and product development.

CO20:Develop verbal communication skills to converse effectively with examiners.

CO21:Contribute effectively in course- specific interaction.

Approach in teaching: Demonstration, Interactive workshops, PowerPoint presentations, Relevant videos, Market visit, Survey and Field visits to relevant Textile Dyeing unit.

  • Desizing
  • Scouring
  • Bleaching
  1.  Application of dyes                                                                                                                                                                                      (30 Hours)
  • Natural
  • Synthetic: Direct, Reactive, Acid
  • Prepare the colour shade card with various dyes according to the latest trend and forecasting                                                                                                                                                            
  • After treatment of Dyeing goods                                    
  • Colour fastness testing of dyed samples
  • Dyeing with Tie and Dye
  1. Collection and study of various fabric dyed textile samples                                                                                                                      (10 Hours)

         Patola, Ikat, Pochampalli, Bandhani

  1. Product development for home textiles/dress material through any of the above mentioned dyeing technique                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                             (20 Hours)                                       
  2. Industry Visit                                                                                                                                                                                                 (10 Hours)

     Students are required to make a report of dyeing and finishing industry:

  • Dyeing Techniques
  • Working Process
  • Different methods/chemical/auxiliaries used for dyeing, finishing
