Objective: 

This course will enable the students to impart the necessary knowledge to improve design skills for creating visually appealing designs. Understand how to effectively use design elements like lines, shapes, texture, and colour to create innovative designs.

CO.7 Create and develop design sheets using Elements of Design by applying various repeats and layouts.

CO.8 Develop samples/product by appraising the concept of fabric painting.

CO.9 Compile comprehensive practical record and submission related to developed designs through elements of design.

CO.10 Cultivate verbal communication skills to converse effectively with examiners.

CO.11 Contribute effectively course-specific interaction

Approach in teaching: Interactive Lectures, Discussion, Power Point Presentations, Informative videos

 

Learning activities for the students: Self-learning assignments, and development of  Design sheets

Assessment tasks will include Class Test on the topics, Semester end examinations, /Quiz, Student presentations and assignments.

 

 

  • Line- types of line, development of a composition using various types of lines.

  • Shapes and Forms- Creating different shapes and forms through various lines

(10 Hours)

 

  • Drawing Colour wheel that includes Primary, Secondary & Tertiary colours
  • Colour Schemes: Monochromatic, Achromatic, Analogous, Complementary, Double   Complementary, Split Complementary, Triad, Tetrad
  • Prepare the following:                                                                                        
    • Value Scale
    • Intensity Scale
    • Gray Scale                                                                               

(10 Hours)

  • Textures: Interpreting different textures from surroundings and Fabrics on various textile materials using different techniques like crushing, dying, wax effects, colours, etc.

  • Creating design sheets using the following in combination with suitable media:                                                                                                           
  • Repeats:
    • Plain, Vertical, Horizontal, Diagonal, Half drop/ drop repeat, One Way, Two          Way, Mirror image, Jaal, All over
  • Layouts:
    • Border, corner, centre, Free flowing, Stripes and checks    

(26 Hours)

  • Sample preparation through Fabric painting

(12 Hours)

 

  • Product Development using any two above-mentioned techniques.   

(12 Hours)

 

Note: The developed product should be displayed accordingly in the department exhibition. Photographs during the exhibition should be documented in Portfolio.
