CO.40 Develop understanding of handloom and create samples of weaving on loom.

Approach in teaching: Interactive Lectures, Discussion, Power Point Presentations, Informative videos

 

Learning activities for the students: Self-learning assignments, and development of Design sheets

Assessment tasks will include Class Test, Semester end examinations, and Student presentations.

 

 

 

 

 

CONTENTS

  • Fibre, Yarns and Fabric Testing                                                                                  
    • Identification of fibre: microscopic, chemical, burning
    • Yarn testing: yarn twist (single ply, fancy), thread count
    • Fabric testing: fabric weight, fabric thickness, fabric width, dimensional stability

  • Weave Identification
    • Prepare a scrap book of different type of fabrics according to the fabric construction techniques:
      • Woven Fabrics
      • Non-woven & Bonded Fabric collection
      • Knitted fabric collection and sample preparation

(36 Hours)

  • Basic weaves identification fabric collection, construction and development of weaves on loom -plain, twill & sateen and their variations                                                   
  • Prepare a product on frame loom with different yarns
