Objective: 

1. 1.To familiarize students with the various fabrics available in the market.

2.  To make student understand the basic dimensions and properties of fabric.

Course Content:

Collection and Identification of different type of fabric according to the classification of fiber                                06hrs

Prepare a scrap book of different type of fabrics according to the classification of fiber                             12hrs

  • Woven fabrics (Basic & Fancy)
  • Knitted fabrics (single knit, double knit, jersey)
  • Non-woven & Bonded Fabric                  

  Analysis of cotton, wool, silk and synthetic fabric:      30hrs  

  • Identification of fiber
  • Yarn Twist
  • Thread count
  • Fabric weight
  • Fabric width
  • Single or ply yarns
  • Identification of weaves
  • Dimensional stability
  • Crease recovery
  • Stiffness test
  • Washing fastness (dry and damp)
  • Identification of blends
  • Drape
