Objective: 

This course will enable the students to-

1. To develop sensitivity among students regarding textiles printing in general and in     context to Indian craft.

2. To introduce different styles and methods of textile printing.

3. To get a clear understanding of designing a coordination collection.

4. To be able to present a collection of textile prints.

 Printing (Practical)

 

The students will be able to –

CO 1.  Develop skills of printing using various dyes

CO 2.  Identify the  suitability of various dye class for different fabrics

CO 3.   Evaluate the technical   advantages of each style of printing

CO 4.  Create a collection of textile prints for product development

CO 5. Develop ability to transfer a design on fabric according to the design/concept made on paper

CO 6. Select relevant thickener and ingredients for printing the given fabric

CO 7. Print textile fabrics in different in different style using suitable dyes

Approach in teaching:

Interactive lecture, Demonstration, Powerpoint presentations, Relevant videos

 

Learning activities for the students: Self-learning assignments, Group discussion, Quiz, Topic presentation

Assignments, Class test, Course end examinations

 

 

●       Market survey and collection of various printing swatches from various sources and prepare a scrapbook                                              5 hrs

 

●       Application to Different style of Printing: Direct, Discharge and Resist printing                                                                                10 hrs

 

●       Methods of Printing:                                                      20 hrs

o   Block Printing                                                                    

o   Screen Printing

o   Digital Printing

 

(Understanding the forecast trend in various printings, tools and equipment, design development and placements,  development of Block and Screen, preparatory processes of fabric, printing process, sample development on various fabrics with suitable dyes)

●         Visualization and preparation of furnishing fabrics and dress material through Block Printing, Screen Printing, Digital Printing               25 hrs

●       Industry Visit                                                              15 hrs
