Summary/Description
The Department of Fashion & Textiles conducted an activity for B.Sc Semester Vth students on "Freehand Painting" on 31.8.2017 in the Clothing Lab. The resource person for the same was Dr. Sunetra Datt, Assistant Professor from IIS (deemed to be University), Jaipur. She started the demonstration with the brief introduction of free hand printing.
The demonstration focused on illustrations like the effect of brushes on different types of medium, using pigment colour and favrical colour on fabric, etc. She created various freehand strokes on different types of fabrics. She also shared some products made by her with the students, so the students got an idea and could create and develop various
textures. Students showed their keen interest through active participation in the activity and tried to create different designs on dupattas, skirts, tops and kurtas through free-
hand printing. This demonstration was very fruitful for the students as it helped them to create their own garments with innovative style. Approximately twenty students participated in the demonstration.
Outcome of the Guest lecture
The main objective behind this demonstration was to provide an opportunity to express design ideas through free hand printing, able to translate a design into free hand style and convert a plain fabric into a printed fabric.
