Report on Orientation

 

Activity: Departmental Orientation Programme

Venue:   A 501

Date: 27th July & 3r August 2017

 

Orientation Programme was planned exclusively for the student of B.A./B.Sc./B.Com. Garment Production and Export Management and M.A/M.Sc. /M.Com. Fashion Design Semester I on 27th July and 3rd August 2017.

The objective was to orient the students regarding the course structure with focus on credit system and its importance.  They were also informed about the examination system with reference to Continuous Assessment and Semester End Examination. Information regarding activities being conducted in the Department, infrastructure, metacampus, and faculty profile was also given.

There were five students of B.A./B.Sc./B.Com. Garment Production and Export Management semester-I and ten students of M.A./M.Sc./M.Com. Fashion Design Semester- I, who attended the orientation. In the end there was question answer session and students filled in the feedback form.

Fashion Design Semester I

Ms. Isheeta Chaturvedi, Additional Head & Assistant Professor of Dept. of Fashion & Textiles, briefed the students about the optional paper, Clothing Studies (generic elective) about the content and importance of clothing for humans. This paper is offered by Dept. of Fashion & Textiles on the other hand, Dr. Shveta Parnami from Computer Department was also invited and she briefed about the computer applications paper.

The forms for the optional papers were given to students which were duly deposited for records.

Fashion Design Semester III        

Ms Aman Deep Kaur from Dept. of Fashion & Textiles was invited for orientation of (Generic elective) Handlooms of India. She gave the brief introduction about course content of Handlooms of India and importance of traditional woven textiles in present fashion scenario.

Ms Amita Sharma from Dept. of Commerce was invited for orientation of (Generic elective) Entrepreneurship. She gave the brief introduction about course content of entrepreneurship and how entrepreneurship play important role for the fashion design students.

Information regarding Skill Enhancement subjects that are Apparel: Quality Control and Soft Furnishing was given to the students. Advantages and importance of opting these skill oriented subjects was briefly explained to students so that they could select the course according to their interest.
