Report on “Accessories Creation through Lamasa”

Date:         8.03.2017

Venue:       GPEM Lab

Activity:    Demonstration

The Department of Fashion & Textile Technology conducted a Fashion Design Guild activity for the student of the department on “Accessories creation through Lamasa” on 8.03.2017 in Clothing Lab. The resource person for the same was Ms. Akshita Bakliwal, MFT 2nd sem from the department of Fashion & Textile Technology, The IIS University. The demonstration focussed on making accessories like saree pins, Hair pins, bracelet hair bands, wall clock, photo frames, and key rings by using Lamasa. The process included making dough using kitchen ingredients such as corn flour, lemon, glycerine, and fevicol. She created different shapes using the dough and created different patterns. She created a hair band using the pattern. She was also carrying some ready products like wall clock, photo frames and bracelets with her which were prepared by her for the purpose of showing it to the students, so the students get inspired and can create & develop varieties. These products developed students’ interest in the activity and everyone was engaged in the activity. They also enjoyed the demonstration and tried to make different things using lamasa dough.

Students learnt that how they could make different decorative pieces for home along with fashion accessories sitting at home with some creativity.

The students showed their keen interest by participating in the activity. This demonstration was very fruitful for the students as it helped them to create their own products in innovative style. Sixty six students participated in the demonstration.
