Objective of the activity :To provide overview about importance of style reading for fashion illustrator in the fashion industry

Description:

The Department of Fashion & Textiles has organized a guest lecture for the students of B.Sc. Fashion Design Semester IV and M.A./M.Sc./M.com Fashion Design II on 22nd May 2021. The resource person for the lecture was Ms. Annaya Tak, Alumni completed her B.Sc. Fashion Design from IIS (deemed to be University), Jaipur in 2016. She had worked as a freelance designer for export houses and a Merchandiser in Japanese Fashion Export House. She also runs fashion blog on Instagram successfully.

Ms. Ananya briefed the students about the concept of style reading. She stated Fashion as globally accepted language and its importance with reference to working as fashion illustrator in the fashion industry. It is mode of communication through which the designer coveys garment detailing to their subordinates.

The process of creating illustrations with style reading was discussed with students. Stepwise procedure for creating collection on particular theme or for particular clientele was discussed.

 

Export houses working was also informed additionally with the procedure of style reading that first it is to be done on paper and then is to be send with a detailed description. Spec sheets, cost sheets were also enlightened.

The lecture was focused on creating different types of illustration sheets including style reading with reference to the current trends in fashion industry. All the topics were explained with help of interesting examples which enabled students to connect and understand the same in better manner. The students could easily connect with the information shared by the resource person as she spoke very precisely on each and every topic. In the end, the queries were also entertained by her which made the vision of the students more clear about the Style reading.

Outcome of the activity:

 The guest lecture was concluded on a very cheerful note. The session was very knowledgeable and interactive for the students with reference to the process of style reading according to the current scenario in the fashion industry.
