To understand the tools & equipment’s required in printing unit and processes of different types of printing.
Description:
A visit at Phool Booti Fabrics, Printing Unit, Sanganer Industrial Area was organized by the Department of Fashion and Textile of IIS (Deemed to be University) on 27th September, 2022 for the students of B.Sc. Fashion Design (Sem V), and M.A/M.Sc/M.Com Fashion Design(Sem I). The visit was attended by 20 students. The owner of the printing unit Ms Priyanka Pareek and Mr Saurabh Pareek took initiative and explained the students about the printing process of the three techniques i.e. hand Screen printing, machine screen printing, and dyeing.
Ms Priyanka enlightened the students about hand screen printing process. Students learnt the process of creating design by taking an inspiration and developing the final print layout on CAD to develop screens. Depending on the colours, number of screens are prepared. Once it’s done then fabric is printed accordingly.
Demonstration was shown by the printers of hand screen printing. They laid the fabric tightly on waxed slab. The various steps for printing the white fabric are gadh, chatha, rekhi which completes the process of hand screen printing. Then the fabric was hanged to dry. Finally curing of the fabric was done and assembled into yardage into rolls.
In machine screen printing, fabric was printed with machines. The whole process was explained and shown by the printer for better understanding.
Further, the dyeing process and the machineries were also shown. In dyeing process, fabric was scoured in machine and then it was dyed with different colours. Finally, the fabric was hanged for drying.
Outcome of the activity:
The visit to printing unit was a learning experience for the students as they got the first-hand experience of the process of printing and dyeing which is very important component of fabric value addition. This exposure will be beneficial for them for application and development of apparel and textiles.
