Activity: Visit to Bagru printing unit

Venue:   Bagru

Date: 5h October 2019

A visit was organized by department of Fashion & Textiles on 5th October, 2019, Saturday in which group of thirty students of B.Sc. fashion design semester III and M.A./M.Sc./M.Com fashion design semester III visited a unit in Bagru.

Bagru is known for textile printing techniques- Dabu block Printing & Dying with vegetable & natural dyes followed by chippa community. Mr. Sandeep Chippa guided and gave the detailed information about the process of printing. He also showcased different types of printing samples and products prepared by the artisans.                    

   The students were introduced with various techniques of printing fabric:

  • Dabu- mud printing
  • Stencil printing
  • Block printing

 

 It was beneficial visit for students as they interacted with artisans and gained practical knowledge about traditional fabric printing and dying.
