Objective of the activity (workshop/seminar/activity/Visit)–To familiarize participants with advanced sewing techniques used in the fashion industry encourage innovation and creativity in garment construction and provide a platform for hands on learning.

Description:

The department of Fashion and Textiles organized an insightful and hands-on workshop on “Advanced Sewing Techniques”. A total number of 15 students from B.Sc. Fashion Design Semester IV attended this workshop. The activity aimed to enhance the practical skills and knowledge of sewing among students, focusing on advanced methods utilized in the fashion industry. The workshop provided a platform for participants to learn and apply cutting-edge sewing techniques under the expert guidance.

 

The workshop commenced with an introductory session, where the importance of advanced sewing techniques in fashion design and garment construction was discussed. The students were taught about precision sewing techniques which is essential for creating high-quality garments. Techniques for sewing curves, corners, and intricate details with accuracy and finesse were also demonstrated. The resource person guided the students how to attach zipper and do picoting.

Outcome of the activity:  

 The workshop provided students had the hands-on learning experience in enhancing their sewing skills. Students gained a deeper understanding of advanced sewing techniques and their applications. They also learnt tricks used in industries while stitching to reduce time consumption. The workshop also helped them with their interactive skills as they repeatedly asked about their queries and doubts and it also boosted their knowledge and skill. Overall, the workshop was very helpful and cleared all the doubts of students.
