Objective: 
  1. To impart the knowledge to develop designs skills for creating aesthetically good design.
  2. Use & application of design elements like Lines, Shapes, Texture & color to form a good design.

 

Unit I: 
Course Content:
  • Interpretation of single line, 2 lines & using many lines for creating different shapes and forms                                                                                                                              10 hrs
  • Conversion of shapes from natural  to geometric & abstract:                                     15 hrs

Any one Natural shape to be converted to (at least 5) different forms of Geometrical and Abstract.

  • Organizing these shapes in a given area to create “Motif”. (Grouping of shapes to create designs                                                                                                                15 hrs
  • Drawing Color wheel that includes Primary, Secondary & Tertiary colors.

       Prepare the following:                                                                                                10 hrs                       

  • Colour Wheel
  • Value Scale
  • Intensity Scale
  • Gray Scale

 

  • Illustrate the colour harmony with their suitable media in geometric and abstract designs: (colour schemes will be rendered in 6”x 6” block.)

  • Monochromatic colour harmony
  • Analogous colour harmony
  • Complementary colour harmony
  • Double complementary colour harmony
  • Split complementary colour harmony
  • Triad colour harmony
  • Tetrad colour harmony

  • Interpreting different textures from surrounding and imitating the same with the help of wearable material on fabric as an application onto garment.                                      10 hrs                                                     
  • Students will trace the textures on paper and will interpret the same for creating Fabric texture using    various raw materials and techniques like crushing, dying, wax effects, Color etc. and relating the textures to certain expressions.
  • Application of all the principles on a single design to make the variations.                     10 hrs

            Student will select a magazine image and will manipulate the same by using various principles to see the changes in design.
