Objective: 
  1. To enhance the creative skills in  sketching and rendering for designing garments
  2. Introduce the concept of spec sheets and source fabric accordingly

 

Unit I: 
Course Content:
  • Illustrating garment details with flat sketches                                                               10hrs

 

  • Style reading for various types of garments                                                                  10hrs

 

  • Designing of theme based garments:                                                                            30hrs

Illustrating garments on themes like culture, environment, historical monuments,   season, signs & symbols, flora & fauna, fusion, traditional embroideries, fabric, festivals, college wear, office wear, bridal wear, etc. (Atleast 4)

  • Appreciation of any five Indian fashion designers-Collecting & illustrating brief history of their work, the famous & celebrated designs collection and shows of these designers.

      Students will make two illustration based on haute couture of these fashion designer.

  • Drawing of spec sheets specifying                                                                                15 hrs
    • Style identification
    • Sketch/ photograph
    • Size
    • Color ways
    • Fabric swatch & trim
    • Construction details: seams, stitches, stitches per inch, placement of labels, pocket, etc
    • Suggested sequence of manufacturing operations
    • Additional information: care label, brand name, etc
