Objective: 

1. To acquaint students with the techniques and skills of pattern drafting.

      2. To enable students to obtain harmony between the pattern and design of the garment.

 

Unit I: 
Course Content:

 

Drafting:                                                                                                                        20 hrs

  • Standard measurement charts for females
  • Drafting of Bodice, Sleeve Block, Skirt block & trouser block for female.

 

Adaptation and construction of the following                                                            70 hrs

  • Neckline Shapes & Built-up Necklines such as Polo, Cowl
  • Sleeves – Plain, Puff, Magyar and Raglan
  • Collars – Convertible, Shawl, Stand and Fall Collar, Roll, Chinese and Sailor
  • Yoke - Round, V-Shaped and Shaped (bodice & skirt blocks)
  • Pockets- Patch with Pleat, Patch with Flap, in-set, welt

 

     Sleeve Finishing at Edge with Frill, cuff with Placket, band, piping, drawstring        

 

Dart Manipulation                                                                                                        30 hrs

  • Types of darts & relocating the darts                                                      
  • Slash & Spread method
  • Pivot method
  • Construction of samples

    

  • Salwar / Chudidar / Trousers
  • Skirt & Top (Designer)
  • Kameez / Kurti
  • One piece dress
