Department of Fashion & Textiles had celebrated “ HANDLOOM DAY” on 7th August 11, 2019 at Draping Lab, IIS (deemed to be University) Campus, Jaipur. The Handloom Day was celebrated to aware and recognized about our prestigious and inherited looms and handlooms of various states of India.
For creating interest and to increase participation, a competition was held on “Saree Draping in a Contemporary Style” .The competition was about to drape a handloom sari into any Contemporary Style or a fusion wear.

In all there were 80 students from B.Sc. Fashion Design Semester – I, III & V and M.A./M.Com/ M.Sc. Fashion Design Semester – I & III students participated in groups and individually. Students were asked to bring handloom saris and accessories on their own. From each group they dressed up one participant as model in contemporary style saree. In total 23 teams participated.
Selected models from each group got the chance to walk and represent main style and then discussed about their clothing and accessories with the judges on the idea , inspiration /perception and how handloom saree can be helpful to them.
Best three groups were recoznied according to their innovation and different techniques of Draping Saree.
