Descriptions:
The Department of Fashion & Textiles, IIS(deemed to be University), Jaipur collaborated with SASMIRA Institute of Design and Textile, Mumbaifor online competition on handloom day. The theme for the competition was recycling of handloom. Eleven students designed one garment each out of old handloom sarees, dupattas or even using old handloom outfits and refurbished it. The students used Bhagalpursilk, Mysore silk, Kota doria, Kora silk and Chanderi for creating the stylized garment out of old sarees. The students with their sense of creativity designed stylish handloom garments from dresses to skirts, lehengas by refurbishing old fabrics into array of products. The garments were according to their measurements, which they showcased and walked the ramp to display their creation through virtual fashion show which was held in respective campus for the event.

The clipping of all the students were sent to SASMIRA where the winner was judged by their faculty member.
The winners for IIS(deemed to be University) were;
1st Position – Yakshita Yadav
2nd Position – Pooja Sanadhya
3rd Position - Masha Afreen
Similarly, Dr Sulekha Ojha and Dr Vipin Kumari, judged the winner from the clippings received by the SASMIRA

It was a great learning experience for the students as they were able to create awareness and showcased their creativity by the application of handloom fabric in the field of designing.
