Fashion Show-‘CREATIONS 18’

Summary:
Department of Fashion & Textiles had organised its 9th Annual Fashion Show “CREATIONS-2018” on 25th January 2018 at The IIS University, Jaipur. The fashion show was an initiative to provide a platform for the emerging designers and models.
The Chief Guest for the event was Shri Jagdeesh Chandra, CEO, Zee Rajasthan and Guest of Honour was Mr. Hemant Trivedi, Fashion Designer, Mumbai
The panel of judges for the show were:
1. Ms. Jaykirti Singh, Designer, Jaipur
2. Mr. Avneet Adwani, Fashion Designer, Jaipur
Total 10 rounds were showcased in the show, which were created by the student designers of Department of Fashion & Textiles.
The themes of the rounds were as follows:
- Art a la Mode- Inspired by the Madhubani paintings from Bihar, this collection offers an amalgamation of contemporary and modern Indo-Western silhouettes with a traditional art form. Printed cotton fabric has been paired with silk to give a semblance of the modern chic to the ensembles that take off from the traditional to create something trendy. - Borrowed from the Boys- Inspired from men’s fashion. Designed by- Snigdha Jain, Sakshi Khanna, Shristi Gupta, Vidhi Lunawat
- Retro Rewind- Old is certainly gold as this collection proves by using sarees from yesteryears to render them anew in an Indo-Western look and style. Shades of pink and blue are aesthetically used in fabrics ranging from the elegance of chiffon and kotadoria to the grace of silk and cotton. - Steampunk goddess- Traditional silhouettes, inspired by the structural yet extravagant style of the 1930s, have been crafted anew so as to suit the contemporary trends in fashion. The colour palette includes black and gold fabrics in raw silk, taffeta silk and net tissue to create all the dram Designed by- Stuti Gupta
- Stately Surprise- Here is a collection inspired by the hues and grandeur of the spellbinding state of Andhra Pradesh, especially its resist dyeing technique of the woven Ikat. Rich fabrics and vibrant shades in Chanderi silk and glazed cotton, that are inseparably associated with the royal heritage of the state of Madhya Pradesh, combine in a succession of cool and warm tones and in designs that showcase the old-world charm of a bygone era. - Navras- The human life is a rich tapestry of color and texture, the warp and weft of the many experiences that shape it. The collection thus showcases life in its myriad colours represented by the nine emotions, wherein there is a colour for every mood. So, there is Shringaraor Love indicated by Pink, Haasyam or Joy in Yellow, Veeram or bravery and self-confidence through Orange, Raudram or Anger represented by Red, Vibhatsa or Disgust shown in Brown, Shaantam or Peace in White, Adbhuta or Wonder through Blue, Bhayanak or Fear suggested by Black and Karunaor Sadness by way of Grey. - London Talkies- This is a classic Western collection inspired by the iconic red bus and phone booth that are quintessentially London. A heady mix of ready-to-wear and couture, the collection boasts self-done screen-printing on silk and showcases a bright, contrasting colour palette to pep up the season using classic bold silhouettes. The dominating colour - purple - makes quite a statement in this city-chic ensemble. Designed by- Jyoti Yadav, Aishwarya Rathore and JahanviBadlani
- Madras caf'e- The collection recognizes the cultural identity and charm of Madras checks though in a manner which is pretty perky! It is a detour from the intense cuts towards embracing the lopsided synergy of cotton checks and floral chiffon. The asymmetric silhouettes are further supplemented with embroidered tissue and tassel details to give a structure look to the line. So, what emerges is a perfect coming together of design sensibility and quirky creativity. Designed by- Aditi Vyas
- Stocklet Frieze- The symbolic Tree of Life stands tall and grand, signifying the steadfastness that is needed to sail through life. Depicting precisely this spirit is this Indi-Fusion collection in earth tones using the ‘tree of life’ motif embroidered on garments in cotton silk that is crafted to absolute perfection. The use of geometric and straight lines and the dawn-to- dusk range of colours lend this collection an all too earthy tone and feel. Designed by- Shreya Garg and SonaliKhariwal
- Khadi Redifened- Known for its raw and earthy feel, India’s signature fabric - khadi -has been used in this collection to signal both its arrival and conservation. Embellished with sequins, block printing and hand painting, the garments are given a ramp-ready look in a fabric that embodies a world-view of the past and re-emerges as a proud symbol of the Indian textile heritage. The use of bright colours and an Indo Western street fashion-style jazz up the entire look, compelling the young and fashionable to embrace khadi as couture. The fashion show provides a platform to the young designers to showcase therir creativity and exposure to the fashion world. Awards in following categories were given:
- Gen Next Designer won by Ms. Aditi Vyas, for her collection Madras caf'e.
- Outstanding Design Collection - won by Ms. Sakshi Khanna, Ms. Shristi Gupta, Ms. Snigdha Jain and Ms. VidhiLunawat, for their theme Borrowed from the Boys.
- Innovative Design Award won by Ms.Riddhi Gupta, Kritika Mittal, Mallika Mittal and Shivani Jain, for their collection Stately Surprise.
- Special Jury Award- won by Ms. Jyoti Yadav, Ms. Aishwarya Rathore and Ms. Jahanvi Badlani for their collection London Talkies.
Two of the rounds namely: London Talkies, and Khadi Redefined were choreographed with dance performances. In all there were 27 designers, 43 models and 8 dancers. The choreography and music was given by Mr. David. In order to groom the girls, 15 days training for modelling was conducted. Each round was mentored by the faculty of the Department of Fashion & Textiles. For the final show, the color board, mood board, theme board, story board, swatch board and working pictures of how they developed the entire collection were displayed through power point presentation by the designers for their respective rounds.
