Objective of the activity (workshop/seminar/activity/visit): To understand the Fashion Portfolio Development process.

Description:

Department of Fashion & Textiles had organized a Guest Lecture for all the students for the Department of Fashion & Textiles on 18th February,2022. The topic of the guest lecture was “An Ideal Portfolio”. This helped to make the students aware about the importance and the development process of a Fashion portfolio.  The speaker for the lecture was Ms Jasmine Minhas. She is an educator and entrepreneur working in field of fashion since 2005. Presently she is teaching at FDDI, Chandigarh as well as running her fashion studio, Jasmine’s Design Studio”, which specializes in custom clothing.

Ms Minhas gave the detailed comprehensive information on fashion portfolio development. The renowned speaker Ms. Jasmine Minhas explained the topic with interesting examples to make the fashion portfolio easy to understand. The students could easily connect with the information shared. She spoke very precisely on each and every topic. Students actively participated in the lecture. The topic was explained step wise. It included the introduction of fashion portfolio, contents to be included in the portfolio, difference between fashion portfolio and merchandising portfolio, elements of portfolio, size, boards, and specification sheets both made commercially and by students, examples of portfolios, etc . All the queries of the students were answered by the speaker.

 

Outcome of the activity:

The students were able to understand the process and importance of the development of fashion portfolio right from Semester I. The concept was explained so well that the students were left highly motivated and enthusiastic to enter the world of fashion & textiles.
