Description:
The Department of Fashion & Textiles organised a guest lecture on "Master Class Design Education" on 11 November 2022, in AV Hall. The Resource Person of the lecture was Mr. Rohan Hiranandani CEO, The Designer Class, and Prof. Navaid Mehtab, Director Academics, The Designer Class, Mumbai. Mr Rohan gave an introduction on changing scenario of education system in the society. He introduced about “The Designers Class,” digital education platform which caters online programmes in various design courses such as fashion designing, interior designing jewellery designing, and photography. The courses will be taught by renowned designers of India like Gauri Khan, Arpita Mehta, Kunal Rawal, Sandeep Khosla by offering quality programmes to students across geographies and will provide internship opportunities for students with leading Brands/Designers. The digital platform have recorded lessons on various courses over 200 hours of content. It was enriching experience for the students as how online programmes help in shaping the careers in fashion styling, portfolio development and entrepreneurship.
Outcome of the activity:
The students got to learn and understand the importance of online education and networking by associating with renowned designers and work under them in order to build their own brand value. The session gave them an exposure to fashion styling & portfolio development for placement in fashion industry. It also provided insight on how the gap between academia and industry can be bridged while still studying as it will help them to startup their own business ventures and brands. They understood that such exposure will be beneficial for them for their futuristic development in fashion Industry.
