The department of Fashion & Textiles organised Saree styling competition on the occasion of National Handloom day on 7th August 2025 in Vinayak Hall, IIS (deemed to be university), Jaipur.
The core objective of the competition was to encourage participants to showcase innovative styling concepts using handloom sarees from different states of India. Each student presented a unique look, highlighting the versatility and cultural significance of handloom textiles.
The students demonstrated excellent creativity and a deep appreciation for traditional Indian textiles. The competition not only celebrated National Handloom Day but also served as an excellent platform for students to display their styling skills and knowledge of regional handloom techniques.
Models ramp-walked and beautifully showcased the unique drapes and styling concepts. The esteemed panel of judges, comprising Dr. Sreemoyee Chatterjee and Dr. Pragya Sinha, were delighted to see the innovation and efforts put in by the students. They appreciated the creative styling and drape techniques.
In the end, winners were announced by Dr. Sulekha Ojha, Head, Department of Fashion & Textiles. The list of the winners were as follows:
Outcome of the activity: The activity successfully achieved its goal of developing a sense of appreciation among students and faculties for handloom heritage of India. It also encouraged students by providing platform for showcasing their talent and creativity.
