Objective: 

This course will enable the students to-

  2. To impart the knowledge and develop designing skills for creating good design.
  3. To give an in-depth knowledge of colour and design in tune with industry as well as market requirements.

The students will be able to

CO 6. Understand the various aspects of colour.

CO 8. Create attractive designs using CAD

CO 9. Illustrate layout and repeats for design development

CO 10. Comprehend the fundamentals of digital illustration for designing.

CO 11. Analyze and interpret    themes by incorporating the design process for creating designs.

CO12.  Acquire skills for design development for home textiles in accordance to  forecasting

Approach in teaching: Demonstration, Interactive workshops, PowerPoint presentations, Relevant videos

 

Learning activities for the students: Self-learning assignments, and development of Design sheets and sample

 

Assign the task, Class test, Course end examinations

 

 

Course Content:                                                   

       ●  Colour & Colour Schemes (Manual & CAD software):       20 hrs

o   Prepare-Value Scale, Intensity Scale, Hue

o   Introduction to colour, colour wheel and colour scheme

● Creating design sheets for portfolio (Manual and CAD software) using the following in combination with suitable colour media:                                                                                                                            30 hrs        

●     Motifs: Geometrical, Stylized, Figurative, Abstract, Traditional

●   Repeats: Plain, Vertical, Horizontal, Diagonal, Half drop/ drop repeat, Mirror image, Jaal, All over

●   Layouts:  Border, Corner, Centre, Free flowing, Stripes and Checks 

·   Design Development through CAD software:                    25 hrs

Develop design sheets each for the following categories according to the Market Research and forecasting of the latest trend. The Design process includes storyboard (mood board, colour board & swatch board,) according to the selected theme according to the target market:      

○     Home Furnishing

○     Dress Material

○     Floor covering
