Objective: 
  1. To acquaint students with the techniques of draping of fabrics.
  2. To design and construct garments using the principles of draping.

 

Unit I: 
COURSE CONTENT
  • Pattern development, Draping and Construction of the following:    20 hrs
  • Tools and equipment for draping
  • Draping principles
  • Preparation of muslin before draping

 

  • Basic Bodice:                                                                                            25 hrs
    • Manipulating dart excess at different locations
    • Dividing dart excess- Waist and side seam ; waist and shoulder
    • Dart equivalents – Gathers, pleats and tuck darts
    • Asymmetrical darts
    • Intersecting darts
    • Princess line
    • Halters
    • Cowl

 

  • Skirt:                                                                                                       20 hrs   
  • A-Line: Flared, Panel
  • Gathered
  • Pleated
  • Stylized yoke with flare, gathers and pleats
  • Peplons and Godets

 

  • Construction of one Top and one Skirt according to the current trend                                                                                          25 hrs
