Draping (Practical)
This course will develop students' skills in pattern-making using draping techniques, enable them to achieve perfect fit and harmony between fabric and garment design, and provide draping skills to understand human body proportions for the desired shape and fit of garments.
CO 142 Explain the tools for draping and formulate the draping techniques for garment details/components to create patterns on the dress form.
CO 143 Plan and construct new apparel designs on the dress form according to the industrial demand through draping.
CO 144 Compile comprehensive practical record and submission related to draping.
CO 145 Cultivate verbal communication skills to converse effectively with examiners.
CO 146 Contribute effectively in course-specific interaction
CONTENT
I: Fabric characteristics and terms (08 Hours)
- Model form: Preparation, measurements and tools
- Draping principles and techniques
- Fabric Preparation
- Draping the Basic bodice block and basic skirt block
II: Basic Dress form (14 Hours)
- Bodice styles: Dart displacements, princess drapes, dart equivalence
- Asymmetrical darts: Halter style, off-shoulder, cowl, wrap front bodice.
III: Sleeve block adaptation- (06 Hours)
