Objective: 

1. The student will be familiarized with the various fabrics and accessories available in the market.

2. The students will be able to understand the basic dimensions of fabric properties.

 

Unit I: 
Course Content:

Identification of plain, twill, satin, basket and rib weave ( double cloth, jacquard, pile & dobby) fabrics and also different types of dyed and printed fabrics                                                      05 hrs

 

 

Collection of contemporary & blended fabrics & exploration and use of varieties of fabric and prepare a scrap book of following fabrics                                                                                            30 hrs

 

  • Cotton fabrics
  • Synthetic fabrics
  • Woolen fabrics
  • Silk fabrics
  • Lining and interlinings
  • New developments in fabrics

 

Pay special attention to type of fabric, basic weave, yarn count, thread count, end use of fabric,    
and its general care

 

Understanding the characteristics, uses, collection and market survey on various types of accessories                                                                                                                                                10 hrs

 

  • Support Materials: Interfacing, Lining, Interlining
  • Support Devices: Shoulder pad, Sleeve headers and Collar stays
  • Closures: Zippers, Buttons, Button holes, Hooks ‘n’ Eye, Press ’n’ Studs, Buckles, Belts
  • Trims: Ribbons, Laces and Braids
  • Non wovens
