The students will be able to –

 

CO 23. Inspect of basic weaves and fabric.

CO 24. Judge the performance and characteristics of fabrics.

CO 25.Examine various types and use of garment accessories.

CO 26.Choose the right quality of fasteners and packet.

Approach in teaching: Demonstration, Power point presentations, Relevant videos, Visual explanation of fabric samples ,Market survey

Class test, Portfolio evaluation, Swatch book evaluation, Semester end examinations

 

CONTENTS

I: Identification of plain, twill, satin, basket and rib weave fabrics and also different types of dyed and printed fabrics                                     10 hrs

II: Collection and use of following fabrics:                                                               20 hrs

  • Cotton fabrics
  • Woolen fabrics
  • Silk fabrics
  • Synthetic fabrics

Pay special attention to type of fabric, basic weave, thread count, end use of fabric,and its general care

III: Understanding the characteristics, uses and collection of various types of accessories. 07 hrs

  • Support Materials: Interfacing, Lining, Interlining
  • Support Devices: Shoulder pad, Sleeve headers and Collar stays
  • Closures: Zippers, Buttons, Hooks ‘n’ Eye, Press ’n’ Studs, Buckles, Belts
  • Trims: Ribbons, Laces and Braids
  • Non-woven
  1. Uses and sample preparation of Plackets and Buttons                                                     08hrs
