This course will help students understand the hand, feel, structure, properties, and usage of different woven and knit fabrics in fashion. It includes making a swatch collection of various fabrics and dye shade cards, sourcing the right trim for the appropriate fabrics, and assessing the quality and suitability of fabrics.
CO 68 Analyze the hand, feel, structure, properties and usage of different fibers/fabrics and measure the quality of fibers/fabric and document different types of fabrics & accessories.
CO 69 Explain the techniques of dyeing and develop the dyed samples of various dyes.
CO 70 Compile comprehensive practical record and submission through fabric study
CO 71 Cultivate verbal communication skills to converse effectively with examiners.

CONTENT
I: Exploration and identification of the following fibre/fabrics through physical, microscopic, chemical testing: (20 Hours)
Yarn twist, Thread count, GSM Thickness, stiffness test, Drapability, color Matching, Color-fastness to washing, ironing, crocking, sunlight and perspiration, Dimensional stability, Pilling, Moisture regain and content, Tearing test, Tensile test, Bursting test, Flammability, Air permeability and Crease recovery.
