The students will be able to

CO49.Create gathers pleats and tucks on the fabric. 

CO50.Design and develop an aesthetic garment using various garments details.

CO51.Identify various trims and fasteners for application.

CO52.Design and develop products by adapting various sewing techniques.

Approach in teaching: Interactive Lectures, Discussion, PowerPoint Presentations, Informative videos and demonstration.

Learning activities for the students: Self-learning assignments, and development of products.

Assessment tasks will include Class Test on the given topics, labswork, record book assessment,

Viva-voce, Attendance Assignment

CONTENT

I: Garment details                                                                     30 hrs.

  • Darts –Functional and Decorative
  • Tucks – Pin, Cross/Diamond, Scalloped & Shell
  • Pleats – Knife, Inverted box and Box
  • Gathers – By hand, Machine & Bobbin elastic
  • Frills or Ruffles - Double ruffle & Circular ruffle
  • Pockets -Patch, Inseam, Slash pocket

II: Applications of Fasteners and Finishing on bodice          20 hrs.                

  • Fasteners-Hooks, Buttons, Zip
  • Trimming -Lace, Braid, Piping, Beads
  • Placket-Continuous placket & two piece placket, Kurta placket 
  • Facing and Bindings- Necklines

 

III: Product Development                                                          10 hrs.

Incorporate the above mentioned garment detail techniques with any type of fasteners in a bodice/top in a template given by the faculty.
