The students will be able to –

 

CO 61.Analyze the various types of material, fabric and trim for the home furnishing.

CO 62. Demonstrate the various construction techniques of home furnishings.

CO 63. Perform visual research for application of elements in the context of traditional textiles.

CO 64.Construct home furnishing products with application of value addition.

Approach in teaching: Demonstration, Power point presentations, Relevant videos, Market visit.

 

Learning activities for the students: Self-learning assignments, Market visit report, Product development

Class test, Portfolio evaluation, Product evaluation, Semester end examinations

 

CONTENTS

I: Identification of home furnishing:sourcing of material, fabric and trimmings.                                                                                           05hrs

 

II: Develop sample of value addition such as:quilting, patchwork, embroidery, tie-dye, block printing, stencil printing, hand painting etc. (size 10 × 10)     06 hrs

 

III. Illustrate and develop at least 6 design patterns (specify motifs, layout, type of fabric, colour combination etc) for the following home furnishing articles:                                                                            30hrs

  • Cushion Covers
  • Bed Spreads with Pillow Covers
  • Table Covers / Table Runners
  • Curtain
  • Wall Panel
  • Kitchen linen- Apron,gloves

Construct one product of the above selected design in each category for home furnishing with application of value addition.

                                   

IV: Prepare scrapbook for the traditional textiles of various states of India-:                                                                                              04 hrs

  • Dyed &printed
