Objective: 

This course will enable the students to comprehend the concept of designing a home furnishing product, one must explore the different techniques of surface embellishment. By combining these techniques, one can create a variety of home textiles. It is important to encourage students' creativity when designing these textiles.

CO.197 Develop design sheets on themes according to the latest trends in the home textiles market.

CO.198 Explore and develop market to understand the   concept of product development process for textile design.

CO.199 Compile comprehensive practical record and submission related various designs in home textiles

CO.200 Cultivate verbal communication skills to converse effectively with examiners.

CO.201 Contribute effectively course-specific interaction

Demonstrations, Interactive Lectures, Discussion, Informative videos

Self-learning assignments, Design sheet creation and product developments

Assessment tasks will include Class Test, Semester end examinations, and Student presentations.

 

 

CONTENTS

  • Exploration of various techniques for home textiles:                                            
  • Inspiration Market Research
  • Theme Board & Mood Board (Self clicked pictures for both the boards)
  • Colour Board (manual colour palette)
  • Fabric and Trim Board
  • Design specification sheet

(Students are required to make the above boards and design sheet based on the selected theme which will be used for making the final products)

  • Develop product range on any one of the following categories using structural and decorative techniques:

  • Window Textiles (Curtains, Blinds)                                           
  • Bed Linens (Sheet with Pillowcases,Bed Spreads/ Mattress Cover, Bed Skirts/ Bed throws)                                                                             
  • Bathroom Textiles (Shower Curtains/ Terry Towel/ Bath Mats/ Bath Rugs)
  • Table Textile (Table Cloths, Cover, Table Skirting, Chair Cover)             
  • Kitchen Textiles (Oven Cover, Mitten, Chapati cover, Napkins)
