Objective: 

This course will enable the students to -

  1. Explore the evolution of Indian clothing from ancient times to the modern era.
  2. Analyze traditional costumes across different states and communities in India.
  3. Gain skills in designing, styling, or recreating traditional Indian costumes.
Course Outcomes: 

CO.132 Design contemporary costumes inspired from regional costumes.

CO.133 Develop contemporary costumes inspired from regional costumes.

CO.134 Compile comprehensive practical record and submission related to developed designs of Indian Costumes and cultivate verbal communication skills to converse effectively with examiners.

CO.135 Contribute effectively course-specific interaction

CONTENTS

  • Documentation of the Indian Costumes (Northern/ Southern/ Central/ Eastern/ Western States) in relation to fabrics, motifs and related accessories.

 

(20 Hours)

 

  • Design Development:                                                                                        Design 20 contemporary garments by taking an inspiration from all region/Vedic,Mughal, Gupta and Sunga period etc. with reference to motifs, silhouettes and design from costumes of Northern/ Southern/ Central/ Eastern/ Western States, comprising of:
  • Inspiration Board                                                                            
  • Colour Board
  • Fabric and trim board
  • Design Sheets/Silhouettes

     

(35 Hours)

 

  • Product Development                                                                 

Construct any 2 contemporary garments from the above selected designs. Students are required to conduct for the developed garments according to the current trends in the industry.
