Importance of Indian Textiles in Historical Perspective

Factors influencing development: geographical location, impart of trade, Invasion & conquests, cultural and economic interactions and political & religious patronage.

Development of different fiber, spinning, weaving (Looms- back strap looms, frame looms, horizontal looms, flying looms, shuttle looms, commercial jacquard and dobby looms) and fabric construction in terms of tools and equipments used & specialties achieved in different regions.
