Approach in teaching: Interactive Lectures, Discussion, Power Point Presentations, Informative videos

 

Learning activities for the students: Self-learning assignments, and development of  patterns

Assessment tasks will include Class Test, Semester end examinations, and Student presentations.

 

 

 

CONTENTS

  • Introduction to Pattern Making

(4 Hours)

  • Taking body measurements for child: Length, width, circumference                           
  • Introduction to various methods of Pattern Making and its importance               
    • Drafting,
    • Flat pattern
    • Draping
  • Introduction to basic tools used in pattern making and sewing techniques

 

  • Drafting:                                                                              
    • Drafting of child’s bodice block , skirt block, sleeves block and sample construction                               

(16 Hours)

  • Drafting, adaptation, and construction of any three samples incorporating below mentioned garment detail:

(30 Hours)

  • Skirt - A-line, Gathered and Umbrella                                                        
  • Sleeves – Plain, Puff, Flared, Petal and Cap                                          
  • Collars – Peter-pan (Flat, Raised) cape collar, sailor and Convertible
  • Yokes - Round, V-Shaped and Shaped (bodice & skirt blocks)
  • Pockets- Patch with Pleat, Patch with Flap, Set-in, welt

 

  • Designing (flat sketch), Pattern Making & Construction of one garment with value addition:                                              
    • Frock                                                                                                                
    • Top
    • Skirt
    • Bushirt (boys)

(40 Hours)

 

Note: The developed product should be displayed accordingly in the department exhibition. Photographs during the exhibition should be documented in Portfolio.
