This course will enable the students to -

1.     Impart in-depth knowledge of pattern making and garment construction techniques.

2.     Identify and effectively use pattern-making tools and equipment for accurate garment construction.

3.     Analyze and apply garment details, such as collars, sleeves, pockets, yokes etc.

CO.42 Assess and Recognize various method of pattern making and adaptation.

CO.43 Construct garment details and children wear garments.

CO.44 Compile comprehensive practical record and submission related to developed designs through pattern making & construction techniques and cultivate verbal communication skills to converse effectively with examiners.

Approach in teaching: Interactive Lectures, Discussion, Power Point Presentations, Informative videos

Learning activities for the students: Self-learning assignments, and development of  patterns

Assessment tasks will include Class Test, Semester end examinations, and Student presentations.

 

CONTENTS

 

·       Pattern Making:                                                                          

Drafting of child’s bodice block , sleeves block , skirt block

 

(30 Hours)

·       Drafting, adaptation, and construction of any three samples incorporating below mentioned garment detail: 

  • Skirt - A-line, Gathered and Umbrella                                                         
  • Sleeves – Plain, Puff, Flared, Petal and Cap                                           
  • Collars – Peter-pan (Flat, Raised) cape collar, sailor and Convertible
  • Yokes - Round, V-Shaped and Shaped (bodice & skirt blocks)

·       Pockets- Patch with Pleat, Patch with Flap, Set-in, welt

(30 Hours)

·       Designing (flat sketch), Pattern Making & Construction of one garment with value addition:

o   Frock                                                                                                                

o   Skirt & Top
