Objective: 

This course will enable the students to -

  1. Gain knowledge of techniques and skills in pattern drafting and garment construction.
  2. Understand the significance of skills required to transform a design sketch into a three-dimensional garment.
  3. Develop proficiency in clothing construction of women’s wear.
Course Outcomes: 

The students will be able to –

CO.148 Develop the basic skills of Drafting and Adaptation of women’s wear.

CO.149 Construct garment consisting of various garment components such as collars and sleeves and sleeve finishes.

CO.150 Compile comprehensive practical record and submission related to developed designs through pattern making & construction techniques and cultivate verbal communication skills to converse effectively with examiners.

CO.151 Contribute effectively course-specific interaction         

CONTENTS

 

  • Drafting:                                                                                  (20 Hours)
  • Standard measurement charts for females
  • Drafting of Bodice Block, Sleeve Block, Skirt block & Trouser block for adult female.

 

  • Introduction to Dart Manipulation                                         (20 Hours)
  • Adaptation and construction of the following                                         (20 Hours)
    • Collars –Shirt Collar (Two piece) using fusing machine, Chinese, Shawl collar
    • Sleeves –Magyar, Raglan, Kimono, Leg-O-Muttan
    • Sleeve Finishing at Edge with Frill, cuff with Placket, band, piping 

 

  • Designing, adaptation, pattern making & Garment Construction (30 Hours)
