Objective: 
  1. To introduce various techniques of fabric manufacturing.
  2. To impart skill to manipulate the basic techniques in order to enhance the fabric surface.
  3. To develop Creative Samples to work as a Surface Designer in Fashion Industry
Unit I: 
Course Content

 

  • Preparation of Woven fabric sample using draft and peg plan through                                                                                                                  12 Hrs
  • Plain Weave
  • Basket Weave
  • Twill Weave
  • Preparation of Knitted fabric sample through                                6 Hrs
  • Flat Bed Knitting Machine  

                          

  • Value Addition on fabric using following surface embellishment techniques                                                                                           12 Hrs

 

  • Variation of basic embroidery stitch
  • Bead Work
  • Sequin Work
  • Patch Work
  • Applique Work

 

  • Product Development                                                                            26 hrs

 

  • Develop one product each from the following category
  • Stole / Scarf
  • T-Shirt / Skirt

(Using Inspiration Board (Use self clicked pictures), Colour palette and Design Sheet)

 

  • Value Addition of Product- Use lace/ fringes at the hemline of the developed products.

 

 

  • Industrial Visit                                                                                4 hrs

 

  • Students should make a report of both woven and knitting industry
