FOLK ART & CRAFT   (Practical)

 

CO1. Analyze the various folk embroideries in terms of motifs, colours and techniques.   CO2. Analyze the various paintings in terms of motifs, colours and techniques. Develop skills in embroidery and painting.    CO3. Compile comprehensive practical record and submission related to folk art and craft and cultivate verbal communication skills to converse effectively with examiners.   CO4. Contribute effectively in course-specific interaction

 

Approach in teaching: Interactive Lectures, Discussion, Power Point Presentations, Informative videos

Learning activities for the students:   Self-learning assignments, Effective questions, presentations, Field trips

Assessment tasks will include Class Test on the topics, Semester end examinations, /Quiz, Student presentations, and assignments

 

 

CONTENT

Study the origin of technique and design with reference to colours, motifs, of different folk embroidered textiles and paintings.                                                                

I: Folk Embroideries                                                   (10 Hours)                             

  • Kantha of  Bengal
  • Pipli Applique of Orissa
  • Toda embroidery of Tamil Nadu
  • Chamba Rumal of Himachal Pradesh

II: Paintings                                                               (10 Hours)                                          

  • Phad of Rajasthan
  • Madhubani Art of Bihar
  • Warli Art of Maharashtra
  • Gond Art of Madhya Pradesh

Create samples 14× 18 size of the folk embroideries and Paintings.

Design and develop any one product in apparel/home furnishing using any of the above techniques.                                                                                        (10 Hours)
