Guest Lecture

Report on “How to Creation of a Collection”

The department of Fashion and Textile Technology conducted a guest lecture on “Creation Of A Collection” on 30th August 2016. The resource person for the same was Ms. Shweta Kothari, Deisgner, Jaipur

She introduced the process of designing: CONCEPT TO CATWALK, where she talked about the process from conceptualization of an apparel design to execution and finally creating the line. She informed the students of varied tools required in the designing process.

Ms. Kothari talked on the importance of how inspiration can have an impact and where to look for the sources of inspiration. She highlighted on the conduction of fabric survey keeping in mind the details of their design like, embellishment, silhouette and construction. She also talked on the importance of color as a design and how colors can make an apparel design standout from their counterparts.

The resource person stated the importance of self-introspection of their work to help students refine their sketches and make their line a reflection of self. The lecture ended with an interactive session where the students discussed their ideas with Ms. Shweta Kothari, and she in-turn gave her valuable inputs for the same.
