Department of Fashion & Textiles had organised its 12th Annual Fashion Show “CREATIONS-2023” on 24th February 2023 at IIS University Campus, Jaipur. The fashion show was an initiative to provide a platform for the emerging designers and models.

The Chief Guest for the event was Mr. Jagdeesh Chandra, CMS First India News and Sh. Rajiv Arora, RSIC, Founder Amrapali Jewels, Jaipur.     

The judges for the show were Ms. Sadhana Garg, Founder, RAASIKA, Jaipur & Ms. Shipra Goyal, Founder, Chrisalis Jaipur.

In all there were 43 designers, 44 models and 12 dancers. The choreography and music was given by Mr. David. In order to groom the girls, 15 days training for modelling was conducted. Each round was mentored by the faculty of the Department of Fashion & Textiles.  For the final show, the colour board, mood board, theme board, story board, swatch board and working pictures of how they developed the entire collection were displayed through power point presentation by the designers for their respective rounds.

A total of 09 rounds were showcased in the show, which were created by the students of Department of Fashion & Textiles.

The themes of the rounds were as follows:

  • Azure Hues : Inspired by the azure landscape of the city of Jodhpur, this eye-catching indo-western collection
  • Oceanic Splendour: Evokes powerful connections with the mythical by bringing hidden oceanic legends to its splendour ensemble.
  • Beatnik Brilliance: Presents a fusion of east and west, using the traditional ajrakh print in contemporary styles such as the jumpsuit, one- piece dress, co-ord sets and shrugs.

 

  • Divine Chronicles: Presents the aura of powerful women in semi-formal western attire, jackets, skirts and shorts, all of which is enhanced by the spiritual symmetry of design found in the traditional Mandala art.
  • Stippled Visions: Interpreting dreams is no mean feat, but this collection uses a pastel vibgyor to bring those to life. Coming straight from the Mughal period, the designs encapsulate the traditional shararas and gararas embellished with elegant gota work for a cultural callback inspired from mugal period.
  • RetroRevival: The western fashion in a glittering collection inspired by retro chic
  • Svelte Silhouettes: Muted shades are paired with the natural textures of fabrics and accessorised with gothic flair to reveal beauty.
  • Sylvan Bellissima: The ensembles combines the sylvan charm of earthy greens, yellows and browns, with the grace inherent in satin and glitter. The collection is embellished with beads and accessorized with hats, gloves and delicate bead.
  • Folk Couture: Embracing the Madhubani folk art as the basis for this colourful ensemble, the array  utilises green and white Upada silk with an embellishment of glass tissue with Sheath dresses with

jackets, capes & ruffles.  

 

The fashion show provides a platform to the young designers to showcase their creativity and to give an exposure. There were three awards which were won by the following students. 

 

Urban Luxe Award : Ms. Harshita Saini, Ms. Pooja Jhangid, & Ms. Preeti Sharma of M.A/M.Sc/M.Com Fashion Design, Semester II for her collection Azure Hues.              

Ingenious Collection : Ms. Masha Afreen of M.A/M.Sc/M.Com Fashion Design Semester II for her collection Retro Revival.                            

Special Jury Award : Ms. Ambika Verma, Ms. Avantika Rathore, Ms. Shruti Soni, Ms.Bhavika Jain, Ms. Anushka Sharma, Ms.Roshni Jain, & Ms. Diya Sharma of B.Sc. Fashion Design Semester II for their collection Beatnik Brilliance.

The Department of Fashion and Textiles has launched its Design Studio “AAKAAR, the joy of dressing” at University Campus, Jaipur by the esteemed guests.The staff & students of IISU can avail the service of the Design Studio. The Design Studio is set up in Draping Lab, 4th Floor in Block B.

Alumane of the Department who are having their own brand were also feliciated during the show.
