Objective of the activity (workshop/seminar/activity/Visit): To guide students about building resume and portfolio preparation.

Description (max 500 words):

The Department of Fashion & Textiles organized a guest lecture for the students of  B.Sc. Fashion Design  Semester -VI and M.A./M.Com./ M.Sc. Fashion Design  Semester- IV on 18th March, 2021 by Ms. Khushbu Bhardwaj, Placement Incharge,  IIS (deemed to be University), Jaipur. She discussed the importance of portfolio preparation and formulation a format for the resume .Ms. Bhardwaj explained various careers in fashion industry and importance’s of presentation skill and  body posture. She also discussed the fashion designer Anamika Khanna’s working style, her source of inspiration, her costumes, and how she established herself in fashion industry today.

She explained the importance of excellent resume power and its strength according to job criteria and how good resume grabs the attention of employers and recruiters. She also gave few tips while framing a resume:

  1. Sells your strongest skills and accomplishments
  2. Shows how you are a perfect match for a position or project
  3. Your resume will stand out in comparison to the competitors
  4. Keep the recruiter interested  so that you are given the opportunity to interview

 

Outcome of the activity/event/seminar/workshop: The main objective behind this lecture was to provide an exposure to students about the different areas like designing, marketing, research, cloth production and textile designing where they can pursue their career in fashion industry. A brief description on various career options like designer, consultant, merchandiser, blogger and buyer has been shared with the students.
