Description:

The Department of Fashion & Textiles organized a one-day Interactive session on “entrepreneurship, business start-up and placements” with RDC (Research Development Cell) on October 12, 2023, at Vinayak Hall, which proved to be an enlightening and engaging event for the students. The session featured two resource persons, Dr. Roopam Kothari, Associate Professor & Ms. Khusboo Bhardwaj, Placement cell, IIS (deemed to be University), Jaipur, who shared their expertise and insights on the development of entrepreneurial skills, business start-up and preparations for placements 

The session started by Dr. Roopam Kothari with introduction to concept of entrepreneurship and the way one should be passionate about making their ideas work. An online survey was conducted on students related to expectation, career planning and counselling to get the feedback for future prospects.  Dr. Roopam discussed on various questions of the survey with the students and explained the importance of career counselling and for the choice of right career. She also guided the students that how they can identify the right career path for future prospects. 

Dr. Roopam further discussed how start-up need to be properly planned and conceptualised. She also spoke about the prerequisites of starting a business and running it in a profitable manner. During the session student sorted out their queries like how to identify on spot opportunities and how their education will help the young entrepreneurs in planning, financing and managing their businesses. She also discussed about the procedure to approach the Incubation centre for the business stalls.

In next session Ms. Khushboo Bhardwaj talked about placement cell of the university and facilities provided by the placement cell for the students. Ms Khushboo started the session with explaining the main objective of the Placement cell, that is to provide personal and career related support to the students with special emphasis on training the students on employability skills and to provide placement in various industries/organizations by arranging campus recruitment drives. Various aptitude & soft skills training programmes were conducted to prepare the students to face campus recruitment process. She explained that the placement cell counsel the students in their career plans and provides in placement opportunities too. Time to time placement cell organizes various workshops related to resume writing, mock group discussion and mock interviews to enhance the confidence of the students to face the placement process of various companies and students can attend such session and enhance their skills for various job opportunities.

Outcome of the activity:  

The session was a successful attempt where students were able to easily approach to them and discuss about their career plans. Students showed active participation with queries related to resume writing, portfolio and job interviews. The session was beneficial for the students as it focused on personal growth, interpersonal effectiveness and skills that are vital for placement and career growth. The session was both informative and knowledgeable for the students to know the right direction for future prospects. All the students are enjoyed the session.
